By Guest sweetfantasy09 , December 21, in soompi hangout. However, recently I thought of trying out strapless top with having a jacket over and so even if I am not wearing strapless bra is still alright. My question is, why is it keeps falling off? I mean this is L size. I tried M size and it's too tight for my chest area until it compressed the area as if I have flat chest. So, I opted for L size and it fits!
So, I bought it and wore it one day. The more I walked, even when I am sitting down, it just seems that the top getting lower and lower and in an hour, I just couldn't remember how many times I have to keep pulling up my top. There was a time when I wore it to shopping mall, by the time I got out from train, I realized the top lowered to the point that a bit of my bra has been exposed and so again I have to pull it up.
I am so tired of this just because of I have to keep pulling up the top. So, I wanna ask, is there any method in wearing such top without it falling off? Is this how strapless top is? Or was it because of I bought the wrong size or what?!! I am so clueless. This is how the top looks like if it helps to give an idea. Have you tried double-sided tape for clothing? I usually use that if my top can get a little low.
I think that the top may be too big otherwise? I've stuck both sides on my clothes before - it doesn't come off that way :3 I wore it like that for a whole day before, it still sticks tightly by the end of the day when I peel it off. I remember sticking one side to my skin one time, and it did come off a bit, but probably it's because I was doing my performance exam for piano and I was too nervous XD. But since you said the top fits right, I don't think safety pins would be useful.
The upper outer paddings of the bra can help to hold on to the top part of your top. Try the bra method. If it doesn't work, taking it to the tailor would be the best option. When you buy tops like that, stretch your hands up and do vigorous activities. If it doesn't drop, then its the perfect size! I think what's wrong with this top is a common de flaw.
The most successful strapless top are the ones with a elastic band placed on the bottom of the breast where your bra band go. Go to walmart or simply a pair of old shorts that you don't want anymore, and cut out the elastic band out.
Get rid of the fabric surrounding the band of shorts and ta-da: ur perfect sized elastic band. Now wrap the cut piece of elastic band around the bottom of breast where your diaphragm is or bra band is and measure, and sew it back up. To attach your self-made elastic band to clothing, simply add stitches to the side of your clothing where the original stitching goes Use white thread since it is commonly available and goes with your top's color.
Looking back your top, you can add a couple more at where the front ruffles go this step is optional but if you do it, its sturdier and make sure the threading goes under the ruffles so it'd be invisible. If you have another piece of topless you would like to wear, simply cut off stitches which should be no more than 10 and switch. Just pay attention to the girls in tube tops on TV, either small or implant big boobs, they always occasionally pull up their tube tops.
You should try those clear bra straps if you're going to wear a jacket over it? I think Ichiaru probably made a mistake and meant you could use clear straps if you're NOT wearing a jacket over. But seriously, all strapless tops will slip. It's the same for strapless dresses. I've tried wearing a strapless dress where you tie under the bust - I did it really really really tight and it still slips down. Next time I wear my strapless dress I'm just going to add straps to it or use something like Hollywood tape and stick it in place. I buy a tube bra and put one side of velcro on it, then I put the other side of velcro on my tube tops and they usually stay on all day.
It should work better than double sided tape, and I feel that the velcro doesn't look very visible.
